JEFF HOPKINS
Head Coach
Coach Hopkins enters his 21st year as a head coach at Minnetonka High School. In his time at MHS he has won two State Championships (2013 and 2018), five 2AA Section Championships, 9 Section Finals, and a Lake Conference Championship. Past experiences include coaching for St. Croix Soccer Club, Tonka United, Barrington Area Soccer Association, being an Assistant Men's Coach at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, serving as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at the University of Wisconsin River Falls, and being a coaching education instructor for both US Soccer and United Soccer Coaches.
Hopkins has been honored through his career with accolades for his leadership. He was named a State High School Championship Coach by the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association two separate years. He was honored as the Minnetonka High School Coach of the year twice, as the Minnesota Soccer Coaches Senior Classic Head Coach twice, and was named the United Soccer Coaches Large School Soccer Coach of the Year on two separate occasions. Additionally, Hopkins was named Section Head Soccer Coach of the Year four separate years. Beyond the field, Hopkins serves within multiple roles for high school soccer; Section 2AAA Rep, the Lake Conference Coordinator, Girls AAA Director, All-State Committee, MSHSL Soccer Advisory, All-Tournament Team selection, is the Co-Coordinator for the MN High School Soccer Coaches Annual Coaches Clinic, and is the MSHSSCA President-Elect.
He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he also competed on the varsity soccer for 4 years while playing in 3 NCAA Tournaments including a 3rd Place National Finish in 1994. Hopkins earned his Master's in Athletic Administration and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Additionally, Hopkins has earned a USSF A License, a US Soccer Youth Instructor License, a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, and a KNVB Advanced Certificate. Coach Hopkins is married to his wife Sara and has a son Cooper (MHS '25) who attends Boston University.
